Hi guys, I saw this advertised on Fareed Zakaria's show on the weekend. CNN has a brand new blog called Global Public Square. At first, I thought it was just a new site for Fareed's show, but it seems much more than that. There's a welcome note from Fareed here and that explains the idea behind it a little bit more.

As for other CNN blogs, I enjoy reading the Connect The World and In The Field blogs, although the latter hasn't been updated since last year!!

I loved reading the In the Field blog, but yes, it's been quite a while since they updated it.

I like reading the Eatocracy blog on the bus ride to work most days.

I rolled my eyes at a blog about food, but I've already found a couple of good articles on that site. So thanks for the link.

After almost 8 months, a new post on the IDesk blog last month. Nearly fell off my seat when I saw that. Sadly, I think it's too late though as very few people would both to check it out anymore. http://international...ss-into-turkey/

IDesk was killed with the 30 minute edition. It had great popularity on their site, FB, Twitter but now it's just slowly going down...

CNN has introduced a new blog called "Geek Out" http://geekout.blogs.cnn.com/

It takes one to know one. When it comes to reporting on topics that interest nerds, geeks and superfans, that sentiment is essential. We employ that sensibility in our reporting, so you end up knowing all the facts. Geek Out! features stories that actually matter to the nerd community but are still legible for those who are not-in-the-know.

It seems CNN is trying to create blogs for every niche audience they can find. FYI: you can find a quicklist of CNN's current blogs (although Geek Out isn't listed yet) at this url: http://edition.cnn.c...logs/index.html

Over the weekend, CNN.com’s Belief Blog won an Online Journalism Award for topical reporting/blogging within the large website category. With only a year and a half under its belt, the Belief Blog provides rich content that shines a light on the faith angles of today’s big news stories and that consistently receives more than 35,000 comments and more than 8.5 million page views per month. I really do like looking at the photo blog on CNN (http://cnnphotos.blogs.cnn.com/)

I think it's still got a long way to go before it comes close to some of my favorite news photo blogs, but it's always worthwhile checking out.

Another CNN blog I like reading quite regularly is The Chart. It contains medical news and health information. http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/
