If the storm continues along its projected path, I'm presuming we will see coverage from CNNUS across this weekend. According to CNN, these are the reporters they currently have on the story:

Aaron Brodie - New York, NY
Susan Candiotti - Long Island, NY
Jason Carroll - Point Pleasant, NY
Jacqui Jeras - CNN Weather Center
Rob Marciano - Point Pleasant, NY
David Mattingly - Kill Devil Hills, NC
Jeanne Meserve - Ocean City, MD
Chad Myers - CNN Weather Center
Rafael Romo - Kill Devil Hills, NC
Mary Snow - New York, NY
Jim Spellman - Nassau, Bahamas
Gary Tuchman - Boston, MA
Chris Welch - Ocean City, MD
Reynolds Wolf - Kill Devil Hills, NC
John Zarrella - Morehead City, NC

Think she covered for Larry King once about a year ago

Possibly many hour simulcast on CNNI.

Indeed. If so, hopefully the CNNI anchors can be used to be report for the CNN/US coverage (iReports, social media etc). Might as well make use of them

And hopefully Natalie is on overnights because I suspect she may be needed if Irene is as bad as it could be

Interesting to note Irene is nowhere to be seen on frontpage of al Jazeera's website at this point.

It is the main story on the Americas section of the AJE website though. Besides, there's only a couple of miniscule links on the CNNI homepage (top story on the US section). Both are clearly leading with Libya.
Be sure to check out my YouTube channel for presentation from AJE, the BBC and CNN. Updated: 12th September.

I'm not sure if Jim was relaying updated plans for CNNI or just guessing. This is his tweet from a few minutes ago.

I expect CNN to simulcast with CNN USA much of the day as Irene is tracked. Good news: Storm weakening (for now) at Category 1.

Ugh, I've had to flick over to Fox News just to see some live hurricane coverage this hour. I think CNNI should have at least been simulcasting a few more hours of CNNUS, especially now that the storm has made landfall, instead of this hodge podge simulcast every few hours.

edit: I've switched back to CNNI as they are simulcasting again at 1400 GMT. I wonder for how long this time?

They've made all the wrong decisions, simulcasting CNN US in the hours when regular international newscasts were scheduled and going back to regular programming when there was no news on the horizon.

It's the same old story for CNNI on weekends. Do they actually have anyone in charge on weekends? Their decision making is appalling.

CNNI pulled out of the CNNUS simulcast at the bottom of the hour for Jonathan to do headlines and then go to African Voices. F U CNNI! I won't be bothering with you for the rest of the weekend.

Natalie and John Vause on overnights tonight
http://twitter.com/#!/vausecnn/status/107342742711058432

Lets just say I feel very sorry for Reggie, Jon, Ralitsa, the CNNI weekend writers, producers etc, the teams in Libya. And pull 'the worlds news leader' tagline and all those Libya coverage promos NOW. "F U CNNI" seems very appropiate. Why can't CNNI put the CNN/US simulcasts in the hours were there would not normally be a CNNI newscast?

^^ Exactly. The way they are going about this is totally wrong.

They're ignoring the rest of the day's news by axing all their regular bulletins, but they've also botched their hurricane simulcasts by only simulcasting CNNUS during those times they'd normally do an international news bulletin. There's definitely no winners today. Those wanting to find out on the world news and those wanting hurricane coverage are all disappointed. What a tragedy CNNI weekends are.

Back to CNN/US. They showed African Voices the past half hour, so I guess back to canned programming every half hour.

And now World Sport!!! Switched back to The Weather Channel live streaming(but as usual, Internet is inferior to television). Thumbs down on CNNI!

Why does CNNI break away from CNNUS' continuing hurricane coverage in order to cover - well... the hurricane? Is this supposed to make sense? After six minutes of hurricane updates from CNNI they've just mentioned four other stories in less then 30 seconds and now it's World Sport.

I remember some years ago during a hurricane they simulcasted the top of the hour, broke away about 15 minutes later for all the other stories of the day and handed it back to CNNUS at the bottom. That was a reasonable concept.

The main problem is that CNNI's probably making money with the preproduced shows. Not airing them means blowing a hole in the budget.

CNNI had I-desk at 1700 for the 15 minutes or so and now has been simulcasting Domestic ever since. Couldn't blame them for breaking away at times for their own weather coverage as there is a (formerly super) typhoon messing around in Asia too.
