CNN Newsroom with Don briefly touched on the story and according to twitter, CNNI pulled out of the simulcast to cover the breaking news. How bad is CNNUS when its sister network has to break away to cover news. After moving on to other stories and taking a commercial break, CNN returned with Don talking briefly to Wolf Blitzer and then finally making the decision to join CNN International coverage. CNNUS keeping its own graphics on air though.

I agree with you Shinta, how poorly CNNUS looked when CNNI had to break away to cover the story more in-depth. Good to see both networks simulcasting now with CNNI taking the lead. BTW, CNN was still a bit behind in reporting the news with BBC WN and Al Jazeera English reporting the story at the top of the hour 0300 GMT hour before I switched to CNNI to see if they were covering it (which they didn't for another 14 minutes.

It seems CNNUS has officially handed over the coverage to CNNI. They're still simulcasting, but have switched to CNNI's graphics. Good call to let CNNI continue leading coverage. John Vause and Stan Grant are providing great analysis and updates.

For a news junkie/CNN viewer, this evening is like an early Christmas present.

John Vause, Stan Grant, Wolf Blitzer, Christiane Amanpour, Elise Labott, Mike Chinoy. They all know what they're talking about and doing a damn fine job. Right now, this is CNN at its best.

^^ Agree! BTW, it's unfortunate that Paula Hancocks isn't in South Korea at the moment, but Stan has been doing great with his updates from Beijing. I wonder if CNN will try to get a reporter into North Korea in the coming hours? I wonder if the country will actually let reporters in to cover the funeral.

Anybody get any screen caps? What coverage this is!! 2 nights in a row that Don and CNN/US really looked foolish to be honest. Hala was the saving grace of the US troop pullout coverage last night.

Between John Vause, Stan Grant, Kristie Lu Stout, and the miraculous return of Mike Chinoy and Christiane Amanpour, among others, the coverage last night was spectacular. I think it was the first time a CNNI anchor has uttered the phrase "The World's News Leader" with it being true, if only temporarily.

And they just had to ruin it with pointless Piers Morgan replay.

Agreed, this was CNN at it's best. Also, glad that CNN USA just let the dearth of talent as CNNI do their thing. John Vause and Stan Grant treated the viewers to a North Korean history lesson.
