To be launched early 2013 on CNN and CNNI; Bourdain will also offer food commentary across CNN platforms (which presumably will include a weekly column on the Eatocracy blog?)

Just saw this and I'm very happy about it. I love his show (watched 2 episodes last night) and it will be a great addition to weekends. Maybe it can replace some of the many crap shows that occupy them right now.

Discovery Channel fired Bear Grylls a few months ago. Maybe he could get a CNN show as well.

Have no idea who either of those are but if CNN wants to be like the food channels maybe they can do a show called "CNN Anchor Star" and let twelve wannabes try out for their very own show.

I'm glad Ginnyfan's happy - but so much for the news. Guess Giada de Laurentiis and David Bromstadt can't be far behind.

I was, of course, being sarcastic when I mentioned Bear Grylls. News is what I expect to see on CNN, not cooking. And this new show won't make any difference about how I see CNNI's weekend lineup - it's just a newsless cooking show replacing a sailing or tennis show. Or even worse, shows like The Brief, Best of TSR and Fareed Zakaria GPS may be in danger.

I wonder what time slot Bourdain will get on CNN Domestic. The press release notes it will air in primetime, so it's either CNN Presents, PMT or Don Lemon that will get the boot.

I will admit, I do like the guy. But I'm not sure if he's the right fit for CNN.

My point is, weekends are poor with news anyway (we all wish this would change but clearly it won't) so at least there will be a show I will look forward to, which is not the case now with all the boring sponsored shows. Discovering different cuisines/cultures worldwide is a topic I can see on CNNI, it had many shows doing that in other areas.

I really hope this doesn't replace newscasts on either CNNI or CNN/US

Since it is only a weekend show, I guess there is no harm. This guy isn't really my cup of tea so can't say I'll be watching. I am mildly concerned about the comment that he will contribute to various programs throughout CNN. Does CNN really need to add pretentious foodie to their pundit list??

Houston, I know you were making a joke about "CNN Anchor Star" but I wouldn't put anything past the current crop of executives at Turner to think they could get a ratings bump for this idea. Maybe it's not such a bad idea. Think about it... CNN finds 12 potential anchors and they spend a whole year running them through the gaunlet - interviews, anchor tests, viewer reaction etc... Given CNN's track record for hiring new talent clearly the reality show test would be more vetting than CNN has ever conducted on their recent hires!!! Furthermore, can we really trust CNN execs judgement on who to put on the air? At least in a reality show, we would all have a say.

I am kidding. Sort of. These guys have been positively dreadful at developing anchor talent.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere yet, but both CNN and CNNI will get a new show hosted by him at the start of next year. He's very high profile and currently does travel and food shows on The Travel Channel.

Actually, I like it.  Fast paced.  Covers all sorts of issues.  Colorful (in more ways than one.)  And I like Anthony Bourdain's patter.

Did you see this  this week?  From Tangiers and a lot of it involved marijuana, hashish and gif themes.  I don't think I've seen the press devote time to the subject --- ever when the topic was the enjoyment of and not the dangers of.  What a hoot!
