Yes. He has that special anchor-material thing in him. His voice seems very commanding, and he has a good on-air presence; great for a anchor. But he does anchor that Ballot Bowl thing no?

I think he's now based in Washington, D.C., moved there a month or two ago from New York. Not sure where he'll fit in with the reassignments in D.C.

CNN correspondent Jim Acosta returned today from Havana, Cuba, where he has filed reports since late last week for American Morning.

Acosta, a Cuban American who had never been to the island, was granted a journalists visa last Wednesday and was on a plane the next day.

"This was more than just an assignment in a country that's off-limits for most Americans," Acosta tells TVNewser. "It was the trip of a lifetime. My dad left the island when he was 12 years old, two weeks before the Cuban Missile Crisis. All I've ever known about Cuba were my father's childhood memories. So, this journey gave me a chance to put some faces with the memories."

I saw him yesterday and he looked like he had a few more gray hairs. It could have been the lighting.

Rule of fame No. 634: No public spat goes unnoticed. CNN correspondent Jim Acosta was on a Delta flight from Des Moines to Reagan Wednesday when a flight attendant made the standard pre-landing announcement: Buckle up, stay out of the front lavatory. Acosta, who happened to be in that bathroom at the time, felt she deliberately singled him out and confronted her in front of other passengers — calling her rude and asking for her name. Bad idea because a) he’s a recognizable TV guy and .B) flight attendants always win. “It was an unfortunate situation, and the flight attendant apologized to me,” Acosta told us Thursday.

Congratulations to Jim who got a promotion on Monday.

Jim Acosta has been named national political correspondent, it was announced today by Sam Feist, Washington bureau chief and senior vice president. Acosta begins his new assignment as national political correspondent immediately.

“Jim has been an outstanding addition to the political team,” said Feist. “He has emerged as one of the key reporters on the campaign trail and his astute reporting skills will only help to position the network to dominate this important election cycle.”

“Having grown up just outside of the nation’s capital, I’m very excited about this new assignment,” said Acosta. “I am honored to be part of CNN’s political team, which is second to none.”

In this new role, Acosta will work closely with the network’s political unit to provide coverage of the 2012 campaign including the primary races, the presidential debates, and the political conventions. He will also cover important stories on policy and culture for various CNN programs, including The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and John King, USA.

Previously, Acosta served as a CNN correspondent reporting from the field and within the beltway on a wide-range of national stories including, the 2010 midterm elections and 2008 presidential election, when he covered the campaigns of then-Sen. Hillary Clinton, Sen. John McCain and then-Sen. Barack Obama. In 2009, Acosta traveled to Cuba to report from Havana on the effects of the Obama administration’s policy change to American travel restrictions in that country. Prior to CNN, Acosta was a correspondent for CBS News, where he contributed to CBS Evening News and covered stories including the Iraq War from Baghdad, the 2004 presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry and Hurricane Katrina.

Would be nice if after all the election business is up and over, and either we are settling down to Obama's second term or we are experiencing life under our new president - wish CNN would bring in Jim and increase his time behind the anchor chair.
Only seem him anchoring a few times, but he was good and quite natural.
