Aaaaand...it's called "The Lead".

Looks like the first promo for the new Jake Tapper 4p ET show aired this morning (US).

For those catching the new CNN promo that's right our new show will be called "The Lead."

Here's hoping that Tapper can find his way here, in between the two hacks called Neil Cavuto and Martin Bashir.

Bringing in a producer from another network gives this show a fighting chance - cause the same ole same ole CNN has to go...

The name is a bit silly.

I've taken the day off from work today, so now I'll get to see his show. I didn't take the day off just to see it, now...

;)

If you are doing a drinking game everytime when Jake says "the lead", then you're probably pretty wasted by now :simplelol:

That is spot on Axl! I thought it was a pretty good show. I wasn't sure going in how I felt about the rainbow graphics but I think it worked. The multi-color setup was lively. His interview with Colbert was very funny. Jake still needs some time to loosen up as an anchor but not a bad first day. At least he managed to avoid insulting most of his viewers with half-truths on the first show like OutFront. When he did the segment asking for #hostingtips, I seriously considered tweeting to him to stop using the word "lead" so dang much. The name of the show is now seared into my memory.

I thought he had good chemistry with Erin McPike. If they are looking to add a correspondent to the show, she might be a good fit.

Overall, I thought the show has some potential. Is it just me?

No, it's not just you. :surprised:

I am open to any show that does not follow that damn Newsroom template.  Also, agree loved the set and graphics. He said "lead" so much, I stopped concentrating on the various stories and started focusing on how many times he could say "lead" in an hour.

I can't say I'll watch this show on a regular basis due to the time it comes on, but I have a feeling this will be a show to record when there are major stories happening.

Is this show any good?  And how about Jake Tapper?  The only thing I've seen him do is movie related on Sometimes Dan and Sometimes Patricia and Occasionally Both of Them.

I was not impressed.

The Lead will be getting, at least temporarily, a 10p replay....

Interesting!

I've always had this idea, since the news of CNN intending to bring back Crossfire, that The Lead is better suited at 7ET, to serve as literally the lead into CNN prime time. Crossfire 2.0 (hopefully a more in-depth, less ceremonially confrontational version) can air at 4. Meanwhile, Burnett can stay at 11P (where it rates better anyway) if she (or her agent) wants to...

I thought that too. Burnett could move to 10p with the Cooper replay at 11p... Then she would still be within primetime, wouldn't she.

I find it strange that The Lead is packaged like a news wrap-up, a la NBC Nightly News or CBS Evening News, rather than a rolling news or debate/opinion show which is more common at 4pm ET.  Good use of the studio and pretty solid graphics, but I'd rather watch Martin Bashir, especially when Karen Finney is sitting in.

I'm Rosemary Church, thanks for your company. *SMILES*
