From time to time CNN deidicates a week which gives CNN audiences a look inside a specified country. It is a detailed show, from which you can find out a lot about the country of focus. We have witnessed that there were 2 Eye Ons for both China and India because these are the two most developing countries in the world.
Previous Eye Ons (Thanks to Spitfire for this info.)
2 Eye on China's
2 Eye on India's
1 Eye on Africa (in the main ruined by being on a big news week + mainly focued on South Africa rather than the whole of the country.)
1 Eye on Brazil
1 Eye on Middle East
1 Eye on Russia

Below is an excerpt from an interesting article relating to "Eye On India". Full article can be read using the link above.

China and India both 1 billion plus populations, easy to see why 2.
Will there ever be a Eye on France week? probably not though it would be my choice, an Eye on Spain also would be welcome here as would another Eye on the Middle East for obvious reasons.
An Eye on Turkey week is a distinct possibility as is an Eye on Eastern Europe or an Eye on Russia.

Actually, it was "Eye on Africa," which was supposed to cover the entire continent. However, I do admit that the one report I watched was from South Africa.1 Eye on South Africa (in the main ruined by being on a big news week)
Between the previous and the current "Eye on India," there were 1.5 years. I think that is a reasonable amount of time for CNN to wait before it eyes a country/region that it covered previously.
I agree that CNN should do "Eye on Russia" or "Eye on Eastern Europe" in the foreseeable future.

I think the formats of "Eye on" are lost now. I can remember that these weeks were VERY special. Eye on China in 2005 was CNN Today being totally broadcast from Beijing, with Hugh and Kristie. And then, there was a CNN Presents focusing in an important issue and then there was CNN Connects with a LIVE debate. Eye on India, Veronica and Andrew were in New Delhi anchoring WNA. Now, there are just a few reports and CNN Connects.

Apparently, CNN was attempting to balance between covering the current world news stories and covering India this week. I think CNN did a decent job of maintaining this delicate balance.

Wasn't there an Eye on Russia week hosted by Becky in either June or July 2006? Or was that called something else?

If I'm not wrong, Eye on Russia will be aired on the week of June 24th.
And, there's another Eye on the Middle East week scheduled to take place in August, probably on the week of 26th.
(I only hope they will repeat the success of the first Eye on Mideast week, specially that, at least for me, the impact of these weeks have been reduced to some special reports spread across their shows, instead of hours of live programming. And, yeah, can't forget about Hala in Petra on the first live broadcast on international television from there. Now, Petra has become kind of an usual scene for CNN!! 8) )
