The World Right Now debuts in June, anchored by Hala Gorani in London. Will air at 3pm ET, 8pm London. I don't like the name but Hala having a show is all that matters! Love me some Hala!

Why do they have to have THE in the titles. World Right Now sounds better. Same for (The) Business View.

Agreed. I think 'The World Right Now' or 'World Right Now' sounds bad. It's just an all around bad name for a good host. The only reason I don't mind the name is because Hala is such a good host that it doesn't matter. 'Business View' also sounds better without THE but I would like a different name for Niña's show all together

I think "the" fits fine for this one. World Right Now sounds awkward to me. However I agree with you for Business View.

It does sound right on air:

'Hello I'm Hala Gorani live from London and this is (what's happening in) The World Right Now'

Hate it.

Sound's like the title of a song for charity or something.

The World Right Now with Hala Gorani, as one, in song... Lemme see your hands in the air people!

World News with Hala Gorani has more punch, more authority but they will never bring that back.

It won't actually be the world right now though. If it's a news program, it will be what's been happening in the world all day and all night.

Hate it!

So, all prime time now has "with" in the titles... Hala, Becky and soon Kirstie. Don't like that either unless they are serious about having the actual anchor present the show and not pull a Quest.

What's up with all these stupid show names?

Don't they all become the same thing anyways? How about CNN devote some actual resources to substantive newsgathering as a whole? The PR is easy to fluff, but has journalism really improved? Or are they simply rearranging the deck chairs?

^^ I think it's the deck chairs!

Still watch though because I don't like the other channels...

So what will happen to Hala's (former) iDesk? Are they axing it?

Meh title.

Yeah, I'm also wondering about her former iDesk. Maybe someone else will take over.

Michael Holmes should get Hala's I-Desk and Amara Walker should get his I-Desk

Oops that's a little off topic for this thread

IMO either Jim or Finn should get it while newbie Amara should settle with being the main fill in anchor. There will be many positions in Atlanta soon I guess.

It makes me question, that "right now" is almost a synonymous of Breaking News. Why don’t call it for e.g. “the world today” (OK maybe because that’s was an old BBC show). Right now? Almost seems that what happened yesterday would be no news!

“The world right now” it’s a little equivocal name. Maybe it would be clear after we see the format and content of it.

Perhaps “The World Now” would be simpler.  Or something like “Up-to-the-minute” which actually is a sentence Hala uses a lot, if I'm not wrong. ;-)

CNNI is an international channel, so I don't think they need to use the word "world" before any bulletin news, its something already inherent to what CNNI is ... or should be.

I was expecting 'The Hala Report' although your suggestion makes more sense in using the last name rather than the first name.

The only show with one first name is Wolf.  And his name is a world apart.  There's only one Wolf in the world.
