Musically it's not that bad, but it really doesn't fit what is supposedly a serious world news show.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I do like it on the pointers and in the network promos two years ago. Though as many people have pointed out, nothing compares to the World News themes of the 90s and 2000s.

Oh, and since we're changing the music ourselves, can we please pick just one or two weather tracks and stick by them? I think I just heard yet another new weather track on WBT that sounded just awful. They need to find the best one and stick with it.

You guys are so right, the old IDesk theme works perfectly with the World Report titles, here's a quick recut I made:

Nice work, ukjds. I really like the idea of repurposing the original International Desk theme.

That being said, I think the W1 theme is the best one on the network. I just wish there were more cuts of it instead of the same 2 they always use.

I would be surprised if they didn't have a few others cuts of that music, so I would love to hear some more variation, particularly on the bump shots to and from commercial breaks.

They should use the track used for the original EMEA primetime pointers, at least then we could hear it in full.

Does anyone have any clips of the sad World Report music?

I downloaded the file Morph uploaded a few months ago. It's a great mix of that sad theme, and you can find it here: http://cnnfan.org/in...dpost__p__50621

I wouldn't fire anyone for introducing the new IDesk music, cause I like it even a bit more than the old one. However, I would fire the person that allowed the old IDesk music to disappear, while at the same keeping one of the worst scores on CNNI ever - current WR theme.

I have to agree. The World Report music can be a little hard on the ears first thing of a morning. It's almost like a screeching sound if that makes sense. I love that old I-Desk theme too and was disappointed when they stopped using it.

 You know, I downloaded this ages ago but must have deleted it. Thanks! It's really the only part of the World Report theme I like, plus the headlines bed.

What happens to the music from old CNNI shows? I mean, do they lose the rights to use the music or just don't want to use music that is so recognisable? I would love to see them use the old World Report theme (the old World Report before it changed to World View) from 2007. That was such a beautiful piece of music, but I'm not sure what show it would be suitable for these days.

I've looked through the thread but can't find any reference to it, apologies if it's already covered. I love the CNN Freedom Project music, really haunting and yet uplifting too. There seems to be a lot of promos for it right now. Anyone else agree and/or is there a link to it?

I love that music! Since we're at it, could somebody also post the title design of the Freedom Project. It's very well-made.

I did a search to see if anybody had posted this before, and they hadn't. Here's a 2:39 montage of the last Larry King Live theme. It was created by Nonstop Music. Usually, when CNN outsources their music to other companies, it's crap, but I rather liked this theme. It's very powerful.

I really like that Larry King theme, as well the old one they had before that. I always thought the show had one of the best themes around.

Guillermo was making fun of the weather music on WR. He called it "supermarket music". Anna was amused.

I would love to hear more of that music from the old prime time show pointers. I'm surprised we haven't heard it used on other things, as it seems to be the CNNI way of using the music for more than 1 thing.

There was a slow version of the Quest Means Business theme played when returning from an ad break on Tuesday's show. Did anyone else hear it?

Indeed. It was used on the CNN Heroes 2010 promos, although it was replaced after a while.

Just to mention, on Monday's 3London/4CET IDESK, they played a slowed down, more violin-heavy version of the IDESK music when introducing/going in and out of breaks near the Norway Attacks coverage.
