Could anyone possiblty cap the 'Journal Wether' or 'Journal Wetter'? It comes onto the internet live stream player at approximately 26-27 minutes past the hour, every hour. I have no capping software, and would probably make something explode in the process of getting it capped... anywho... here's the live link :P http://www.dw-world.de/popups/popup_med ... 66,00.html

I've always found DW-TV to be a lil boring for me. Just my two cents' worth.

It's on at 2330 MDT on my local PBS station after BBC World News, but I agree with Ozzie Rosie that it is rather boring. I usually watch it until the CBS Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson comes on at 2337 MDT. He's quite entertaining.

I'll agree, it's kind of dry, but their graphics and music is pretty good

Funny how their music is also used by ABC in Australia. It's similar, at least. ABC's been using that music for as long as I remember, I'd say 1995/6.

The international television Deutsche Welle will strengthen its presence in Latin America and expand its Spanish-language broadcasts two hours daily to twenty, announced today the CEO of the public body, Erik Bettermann.

The expanded program will start on 6 February with a total of twenty hours of primarily news and current affairs magazines of various kinds, from cinema to sports, and conversation among experts.

These twenty hours in Spanish is rounded with four in German, to cover the daily uninterrupted programming.

"This is clearly an expansion aimed at strengthening our presence in Latin America and runs parallel to the reorganization of the other regional programs," said Bettermann.

Thus, the extent of Spanish-language broadcasts, which receive cable Latin America, which implies to 850 distributed networks in the region, and will match the strengthening of the television programs in German, English and Arabic from the world .

"In the last two has been a radical expansion of the international channels. Before our opponents were only CNN and BBC World, now the market is divided among 25 competitors, among Europeans, Arabs, Chinese and Americans," said the CEO.

The extent of their programming, both for Latin America and the rest of the world, has no need to extend the funding of the entity, insisted Bettermann, but restructuring their content.

Of the 70 employees that had hitherto writing in Spanish will go to 150, mostly in solitary regular contributors, ie, without increasing staff.

The Deutsche Welle, which launched its first Spanish-language broadcasts in 1992, is publicly funded, with an annual budget of 271 million euros.

DW-TV came off Sky Digital/Freesat during 2011, so the only way to watch this is online for most in the UK.  I would love a 24 hour English Language DW, instead of alternating English and German hours.  Difficult to remember when the bulletin is due to be in English.
