Wow 34 years and pretty much fired (even if they aren't saying that ) for pretty much no reason.   Sad really .

Doesn't mean much when he's no longer employed...

What's frustrating about this is that he doesn't have a Twitter account anymore to send him well-wishes. I also really liked the articles he shared and *most* of what he would say. He was one of the best.

Such a shocking and quick development but the outcome, as I said before, was expected. In the US media, there are certain issues that can not be touched or talked about so those who dare to do it are immediately erased.

What a sad way to end such a brilliant career at CNN. Jim was always outspoken on Twitter and last few years, I think he was overall unhappy with the developments at CNN. Not only cause he was sidelined-ed but I feel like he was fed up with all kinds of behind the scenes going ons and probably years of pressures, influences and lobbying. That could be why he decided to speak up on Twitter.

I just hope he is not too hurt by this and I suspect he might not be. In a strange way it could be a new found freedom for him.

All the best Jim, for many of us you will always be the face of CNNI or at least what was good about the channel.

I also learned of his departure only after he had already deleted his Twitter account. Given the nature of the fatal tweets, I seriously wonder if he is battling some kind of personal problems.

But in the end, another long timer gone :(

And yes, one needs to choose words wisely when talking about the certain country at the eastern Mediterranean coast in present day "us vs. them" political climate at any time. Although I fail to understand why did he brought it up in the first place.

I really can't believe that Mr. Clancy is joining this on-line rag.   Unless no one else would hire him & he needed money ASAP.

Whoever made the comment about Fareed Zakaria & plagiedarism vs. Jim's Twitter tirade, I posted it on Twitter, but didn't know who wrote it.  So I wrote "someone said..."  If you tell me your name, I"ll be happy to add your real name. by the way, The post has  gotten a few R/Ts and Favorites.

My other thought was that Mr.Clancy might have been drinking when he tweeted a" ll that stuff -- it being "his Friday night" and all.

I don't know if I ever shared this, but if you have the time, it's worth a watch. It's Jim on TV in Trinidad and Tobago talking about journalism and CNN about two years ago:

A truism. If you work in US mainstream media you have to be pro-Israel or at the very least pretend to be.

Not sure

I'm not sure that the article supports your theory stuartfanning.   there's nothing that suggests that Mr. Clancy was fired or reprehended by CNN in the article.

The whole thing confuses me, frankly.

It is true that in one must be neural when working in US media, though.

Re your last sentence. You should have added, unless working for FOX News. :D
