Interesting. It seems to basically be all the on-demand videos from CNN.com - a bit of a strange thing to do, but I suppose it's good that they're expanding into new formats.

Here's the URL (thanks to CNN Observations) : http://www.youtube.com/CNN .I love that graphic David posted above.

Look at what's on the CNN/Youtube Page at the moment:
Attached File  CNN on Youtube.JPG   45.39K   855 downloads

'Keep watching CNN for the biggest names in news!'

What, in case one actually turns up???

And this page isn't even available in the US, where there might be a small number of people interested in this - it's international only. CNN needs to realize that anyone outside the US who's looking at a CNN website will NOT be interested in celebrity trash.

Can anyone not access the CNNI page at YouTube? Everytime I log in and try to watch something on the page, I get the message saying it's not available in my country! (I'm in Australia, btw).

^^^

Same here, only I'm in America, so I expected that. From what I can tell, it looks like it's only available in the UK.

Also the same, though being from Canada, I fall under the 'lucky' net of CNNi censorship.

I use a program that shows my IP address as being in Europe. Then I can watch anything that had been blocked with a US IP.
I don't remember the name - it's on the other computer. But it was freeware.

Dear friend Houston,

It is so much nicer to be friends. The program, Houston, that shows your IP address as being in Europe from your US IP is called a "proxy". Very impressive that you know how to use a proxy. The disadvantage to talking about it in public is that your information can be used to trace back to the IP number of that proxy in Europe, and that ip number of the proxy may be blocked by the site you are trying to visit. If this happens, the proxy will not work anymore.

Nothing happens to your ip number in most cases. Unless the site you are visiting requests your ip number from the proxy, so that they can contact your ISP and get your contact information. This is extremely rare, and usually reserved for cases of abuse, spam, etc. So don't worry.

Sincerely,
Nexties

Is it a 'program' on your computer or a website like one below?:

This what I intend to put on my computer if ever I get it back - the guy said the freeware(s) I have installed had nothing to do with the crash - but I think on principal...

I am going to have to check and make sure it will allow for foreign choices.

Dear friend,

One of the most common reasons for crashing is that the harddrive is full.
If it is running hot, or it is an older computer, with lots of stuff installed on
it, then that is a tell tale sign. Another common reason is the virus protection
is expired. In this case, AVG 8.0 is a FREE virus protection software.
It not as good as commercial virus protection, but it is better than nothing.
Adding new hardware can cause it to crash due to a driver related issues.

Sincerely,

Nexties

I tried to access the page at YouTube using the suggestions listed in this thread but they didn't help.

Are all the videos on the YouTube page up on cnn.com/video as well?

^^ As far as I can see, yes. I think you have to live in the U.K. or Europe to actually watch the videos. Considering CNNI is on its way to becoming a European news channel, that doesn't surprise me. :!:

Yeah, I knew that.

I, as well as Houston, Charles, and others that live in the US, cannot view the videos. I believed it is available to every country BUT the United States, but from Morpy's experience that you can't access it in Australia either.

Try DailyMotion. CNNI has a page there too and I can't watch videos there either. :-(

Is there some cost issue or why else not?

By the way dezbee2008 if you were a member of an earlier incarnation of cnnfan.org my guess would be as 0798girl.

Yes (it's 0789girl)! And also at Markus' CNN forum site (where I have not posted since 2005). I knew some people here already know me.

Now, I don't think the 0789girl username fits anymore because I'm 20 :-) I guess you've probably seen why I jumped into the bandwagon here so quickly. :D

Yeah, I can watch the videos here in the U.K. Strange that they would be blocked to the rest of the world because, um, it's CNN International. Crazy people.

^^ Personally, I think it's more to do with blocking people from the U.S. from watching. As I understand it, you cannot block one particular country or region on YouTube, you can only choose to enable one particular country or region.

Still seems rather silly to me, but I guess they realise that people would jump on YouTube over their silly CNN.com video player that doesn't work for me 3/4 of the time unless I refresh the page.

I can now access and watch every single on the CNN YouTube page. Curious if anyone else who was blocked previously can do the same?
