Not that I want her gone or anything but I thought she left CNN.

She has but was on CNN as an expert.  If you look at the background it sez Harvard University.

I'm sure she's hard to replace.

I love that they've kept Jill on as an analyst after she left her reporting position. Because of her years of experience, her analysis is thorough and informed.

NEW DAY, BLACK FRIDAY 2015

BERMAN: Have shoppers become hooked on their mobile devices to fill their needs?
PEREIRA: Guilty as charged!
BERMAN: Their shopping needs, I'm talking about. We'll break it down next.
PEREIRA: (gasps) What is wrong with you?!
BERMAN: I don't know!

's

They do have her on from time to time as an analyst.

You know, some people leave CNN to do something new -- they aren't always fired.

She graduated with a Master's Degree from Georgetown University in Dec. 13 and immediately thereafter became a Harvard University Fellow immediately Now she is a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Institute researching Vlad the Impaler -- I mean, Vladimi Putin.

Those are very prestigious positions.   Based on that I think she just wanted to try something new.

These positions pay her to do research -- in other words, it pays her to think.  What a great job.

And she was at CNN for 30 years.  that's long enough doing anything.

Haha, I see what you did there with the Russian President.

And I know for sure that she wanted to try something new. I didn't mean to say she was fired, if it came across that way. I believe she said that in her goodbye email, about an opportunity she just couldn't pass up.

I also kinda feel like CNN didn't realize what a great resource she was on Russian affairs because as her days at CNN dwindled down, her airtime increased. She even got an on-air goodbye. It's great still seeing her on the network from time to time.

You may be right about CNN appreciating her.  And I'm very happy when she's the analyst now.

Although, if one specializes in one area (Russia, for example) I think your air  times come & go.  For a while Russia wasn't doing anything noteworthy so her time went down.  Then the country started being bad & the Sochi Olympics occurred and Russia was back in the news.

It's a good time to be a Putin specialist.

Glad you liked my Vlad the Impaler joke,  AJJ.

Jill seems to be spending alot of time at the CNN Moscow bureu again just lately, especially at weekends. I'm guessing she's covering for Matthew Chance in an unofficial way. She even filed an 'as live' report last week.

Zain Asher treating her as if she's still a CNN staffer.
