CNNj is one of the oldest CNN International news broadcasters. It may change now but a couple of years back, CNNj showed all the major prime-time shows of CNNUS including American Morning, Larry King Live, AC 360, NewsNight, PAula Zahn, Lou Dobbs, etc. If anyone knows, is it the similar these days?

CNNj is really boring. It's just CNN International dubbed in Japanese, and there's a button on Japanese remote controls that can disable it so you can go back to English, but I didn't figure that out until my last day of my vacation in Japan.

It's nothing special, other than the logo, but even that doesn't appear on-screen at all really...

Hi. Just introducing myself.

I'm Harjit, a Canadian residing in Japan. I love CNN and consequently view CNNj. That said, I haven't really watched it steadily over the years. I just started subscribing to it again after an absence of a few years. Cable is damn expensive here.

My favorite anchors are Anjali Rao and Colleen McEdwards. Not for any really sophisticated reasons, I just simply find them both to be incredibly attractive women.

I'm looking forward to getting a bit more immersed this site, it seems like a cool but quirky forum idea.

I believe CNNj is still using some of the older promotions seen on CNNi. I recall seeing an advertisement for CNNi featuring the old logo design, along with the slogan "Be the First to Know.". They also introduced a few promotions here and there designed for CNNj, including that 3D logo that was posted back. Morphium has the original variation on his YouTube page.

So is CNNj just a feed of CNN US with translation available? I wonder why they don't just air CNNI, surely that would be of more interest to people in Japan (and actually cover some Japanese news) than anything you'd see on CNN US?

Does anybody remember that promo for CNN Today HK that appeared on CNNj? All I remember about it was it was Hugh and Kristie sitting in the set advertising the show, and I think they emphasized that the show came in Japanese. I don't think it aired on the regular CNNI, and I think it is the only sort of promo for CNN Today HK ever aired.

Interesting to see something from CNNj. There doesn't seem to be a lot from the network on You Tube.

CNNj will have a month of shows highlighting Japan in January. I wonder if we'll see anything like this on CNNI in the form of Eye on Japan.
