She doesn't seem to move anywhere. Maybe just in a new house/apartment.

Well, I guess not.
Maybe she's just downsizing. It apparently is a huge house. That's a lot of upkeep, especially being gone so much. Or maybe she's going the roommate route again.

I do think she'd be good with Adrian. Who knows? With AOL apparently gone, and from what's posted, Monita's not on a lot anymore...they could give Adrian and Max Today and Hala the BIs.
Don't guess it would matter here - the idiots running CNN will probably never put YWT back on US.

Like Ginnyfan I also heard what could mean a return to CNN USA of YW. Good for them if so

Whatever Hala's future holds there is one thing of which I am close to certain about.

Hala Basha Gorani will never be a Fox News gal

Many, many reasons why not least of which Fox News is Ultra, Ultra Francophobic.
Quote of the week

Wow. I'll have to tape tomorrow and see. They've still been advertising Issue #1.

Hala could always be a writer. I like this from the ITME blog.

"Over miles and miles of rugged desert and through a dying winter's still harsh climate, there is nothing to see but lonely telephone poles stuck in the frozen ground like toothpicks, lining an empty highway that seems to lead to the end of the earth.

The ground in Agri is all one color of unsympathetic brown. I'm told nothing much grows here, and the only way locals make money is either by raising the odd herd of cattle or smuggling cigarettes and diesel fuel from Iran.

We arrive at Somkaya village where homes are huts peppered here and there in the mud, some with blue tarp sheets designed to protect from the rain and cold. A heat wave melted the snow and has made the roads into the village soggy and difficult to navigate.

Then, like an apparition, a dash of color: a brand spanking new building. A school, built six months ago, for the area kids. Nothing fancy; it's square and rudimentary; but against the brown of Somkaya, it stands out, especially considering there was nothing here last year."

The more I think about it the less likely I think it is that Hala is leaving CNN.

Although I think Spitfire's idea about TF1 is possible, I doubt they'd want her speaking French after so many years of anchoring in English.

Ajlazeera English seems like the obvious place for her to go, but why would she go? I can't imagine money being an issue for her, and I'd have thought she'd rather be the Mid-East specialist for 'The World's News Leader' rather than merging in and becoming insignificant with all the other Middle Easterners on Aljazeera. She is after all the flagship anchor on one of the world's most watched and most well-known news channels, and I can't see why she'd want to let that go.

I agree totally with Spitfire about France 24 - she would never agree to such a demotion.

All I hope is that Hala is moving house because she's getting married soon - she certainly deserves it after all these years.

----
As for YWT on CNN/US, I hate to be pessimistic but it's got 'Issue #1' on the schedule still for today (Thursday). We just have to hope they forgot to update the online schedule.

Houston, you're right about Hala's writing. She's a woman of many talents. :P

As far as we know she is not getting married. Richard is just saying that he hopes that that is the reason.

I don't know. I do remember something being mentioned in an interview a few years ago that she was about to get married. It seems that that hasn't happend yet.

She is too busy for that & it doesn't sound that great, because Hala needs a personal life, as any one else.

Boy! So much fuss about Hala selling her house. If I was in her place, I would do the same. Why you need a big house (as Houston say it is), when, most of the time you aren't living there? :?: I think that in the overall, after all the travel she does, she must have spent just a few months in her house in the last year.
If I was her I would sell her car as well. :P Gasoline is too expensive now, and it's just a waist to have a car, with almost no use, in the garage. As a practical woman I think she is, maybe she is just being practical and she is moving to a smaller place. I don't even want to think about the possibility of her living CNNI Posted Image

I'm looking forward to see the next edition of ITME. Mostly because Turkey fascinates me some how, and have a couple of friends there, and off course also because Hala is presentig it. Posted Image

Thanks everyone for the always lovely Hala caps. 8)

Yeah, I didn't mean to set off such a firestorm. I thought maybe one of her coworkers might have said something. However, her leaving would not surprise me. If you start adding up all the little things that seem to be going on - YWT off US; AOL gone; Monita hardly there; Isha taking over; Ralitsa going the way of the dinosaurs; thinking of putting on Quest with a daily show (shudder); less and less WN on weekends; etc. It seems to add up to lots changes going on and not all for the best.

Houston, Monita is on CNN Today almost every week now when there's no AOL, more often then last year at this time.

What daily show for Quest???? I would love that.
