I can't believe Sir Robin has never had a post. He's absolutely one of the best.

It looks like he's role in the future is gonna be something like Tod Benjamin, he'll pop up from time to time. He said that on Back Story , I guess it's somehting like retirement, Michael gave him a lot of compliments. I think this is not CNN's fault, I don't think they would just let go Tod or Robin, it's couse they want to retire and do less work.

A great journalist. He will be missed.

The question now is: Who will cover EU politics?

I don't know if anyone watched 'World News' this morning, but Robin was on talking about "UK Expense Row".

Great to have him back as a "Political Contributor". He obviously knows a lot about UK politics - would be a shame if CNN had completely lost his expertise... Maybe he's got enough of resting and being out of business. I mean, when you've been a reporter all your life it's probably weird not to be chasing after the headlines any more from one day to another...

Is Robin the only CNN contributor who reports for the network? It's a weird thing. It's like he's back full time reporting but only with a contributor title. Standing outside 10 Downing Street recently in the early morning hours and late night filing reports goes beyond "contributor" to me. Still good to have Robin around!

Hmmmm I guess contributor means that he's a freelancer now. He can work as much as he's willing to pledge and he's probably not bound by a contract. So I suppose he promised to extensively report on UK politics but doesn't have to do other stories when the crisis calms down since he's not a "real" CNN employee any more... maybe I'm wrong but that's how I explain it to myself.

He was live with Don on Friday. I got a cap of the lower third as proof that he's a 'CNN contributor':

I honestly think Robin is happy with his new role, he's getting on and he had been following UK politicians around for decades, now he can do his horseracing books and columns and dip into UK and european politics when called on.

The few minutes I did see CNN on Monday was when Robin was on doing a live hit from outside Downing Street. It's still so nice to see him every now and then.

I was devastated when Robin announced his retirement from CNN, but I'm so glad we get to see him appear every now and then.
