Is CNNFUN.com the next iReport site ? It claims to improve embedding which is very difficult to do at the iReport site. There is a red EASY button for embedding an iReport using only the website that shows your video. How simple is that ?

That is so much easier. What an improvement! Most people are not able to embed an iReport because it involves a whole page of lines of complicated Javascript source code that would be a challenge to a computer programmer, let alone ordinary CNN iReporters.

This is so much easier. No doubt they will be adding a database and finishing the rest of the site. CNNFUN.com looks like it is engineered in advanced php code, which is more powerful than Java. CNNFUN.com is an improvement that is needed. It is really a very convenient service, not to mention much more fun.

Do you think improvements like CNNFUN.com may ever make CNNfan sites obsolete?

Are you a complete nutjob? It's your site and your talking about it in the third person?

Moderators, I think this section of the forum should only be for official CNN related web technology and websites. I think this should be moved to the links section (if it can't be deleted).

@Leeroy
I was doing the same at Whois.net. Tip of the hat.

The attachment has been removed in order not to cause the Site Administrator any problems.
Altho the posting was not in violation of the boilerplate language of GoDaddy, Morpium should not have to put up with the crap.

PS. Don't we have any rules against constant posting of bloviated self-promotion?

Dang! You guys are quick.
Well, the truth is that it is a real improvement to iReport embedding.
Not a hoax. And CNNFUN does return 388,000 results on Google.

Try it with any iReport website and see for yourself, compared to their
way of embedding. It is a major improvement, but only a prototype.

This article IS accurate in every detail.
Next time you figure Nexties out... Play along! Knowledge is power.

NOTE: It is only working in FireFox at the moment. IE Vista needs debugging.

Leroy: EDIT your post when you have a chance.

Can't see the chatroom anymore?

Here's an EASY one:

link: CNNFUN Chat Room

Morpium, would you like this chatroom source code ?

Please answer this question using the CNNFUN chatroom link.
Guest posting is on, so type in a CNNfan name unless you want to be anonymous.

This chatroom works nicely from this post, but will be even smoother if you install it here. Take a look at CNNFUN.com where it is installed. Please note: This is clean code. It is not spam, not spyware and it is not hacking. So don't worry about allowing popups. This is a good popup window. Nexties does play tricks for laughs sometimes, but NOT this time.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response, Morpium.

One thing friends and foes have in common is they both want more members on the forum.
And this forum is as good as any to try and send more members to.

If you visited CNNFUN.com, you may have noticed the CSS was not setting up right. So it functioned but looked ugly. That glitch has been caught now and corrected. Now it is beginning to look like a site should. Originally this was missed because this CSS glitch was hiding, sort of. It only happened while logged out, and did not happen at all while logged in. So it went unnoticed.

CNNFUN.com is still in ALPHA version, so it is working, and it is really EASY, but with limited funcionality. Overall, this limited functionality may be unnoticable, however there is other programming that is yet to be done to get it to BETA version.
In short, the site is usable, with a forum, a chatroom, and an EASY way to embed any iReport: http://www.cnnfun.com

The CNNFUN iReport Filter

Posted Image

Unfiltered. Unedited. News used to mean Unsafe for children. Not any more.
Thanks to The CNNFUN iReport Filter.

Parents and Teachers don't have to run the risk of exposing their kids to viewer discretion
iReports and comments, when viewing iReports for entertainment at home, or for learning
purposes in the Classroom.

It is so simple. Just put two websites together, end to end, to make one longer website.
Then use it like any other link. It's a small price to pay to keep kids safe on an unfiltered,
unedited website like iReport.com. And some iReports are shockingly gruesome including
photos of corpses with their throats slashed in South America.

iReport offers a viewer discretion feature, but embedding the code feature is just asking
too much of kids. It is extremely difficult to do and looks something like this:

<object width="450" height="370">
<param name="movie" value="
http://www.ireport.com/themes/
custom/resources/swfplayer/mediaplayer.swf">
</param><param name="wmode" value=
"transparent"></param><param name=
"menu" value="false"></param><param name
="flashvars" value="height=370&width=448
&autostart=false&autoscroll=false
&showstop=false&showicons=false
&showdigits=total&controlbar=34
&backcolor=0xFFFFFF&screencolor=0x000000
&frontcolor=0xDEDEDE&lightcolor=0x00A2FF

Let's face it. Expecting ordinary people to work with advanced programming like this is just not reasonable.
Kids need a stronger filter, with embedding built in so it can take them to a safer place on the website, called
a sandbox. And it has to be a sandbox that kids will want to use because its fun and really, really easy.

There has to be a better way, and now there is... Here are the three short steps to use a CNNFUN filter:

Simply put the CNNFUN filter

http://www.cnnfun.com/safe/?yes=

on the left side of the iReport website

http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-185623

and you have a CNNFUN filtered iReport link:

http://www.cnnfun.co...docs/DOC-185623

Yes. That is actually all there is to it ! You can even bookmark the CNNFUN filtered iReport just
like any other of your favorite website links.

Take a look at these lucky CNNFUN filtered iReports who got featured on CNNFUN.com:

Hello bob4Joy!

It is so much fun to look at this photo and say, "Wow! This picture is actually a part of American History."
Keep smiling, because you have been featured on CNNFUN.com right here:

CNNFUN.com is a user-generated filter for iReports brought to you by the CNNfan community online for 5 years.

Thank you so much for sharing your story.

It would be wonderful have iReporters like these stop by and say thank you in person in the CNNfan community.

These edits are because the iReport embed source code was so complicated and so difficult to handle
that it knocked off the forum formatting. So line breaks had to be added to make each source code line
to fit on the forum without breaking it by the super long iReport embed source code lines.

Great idea, but does CNN allow non-family friendly content onto iReport to begin with?

Hi Charles,

Oh most definitely. It even says so right on the iReport site that some news worthy stories are hard to stomach. There have been some extremely gruesome iReports posted depicting death as mentioned above.

And let's not forget the infamous Steve Jobs fake heart attack that got CNN investigated by the SEC.

Thanks very much for your comment!
