Arwa was on one of the television current affairs programs down here last week. The host had real trouble pronouncing her name correctly - It was funny. I wish I could find a video of it.

Arwa looked a little bit rough today, like she was going to throw up and/or faint any second while listening to Owen.
And that was one unfortunate lipstick - it looked like Arwa was drooling. Oh, the light and its tricks.

"And here we see the majestic B-52. Look closely when her little babies now take their first step into adulthood. They carefully leave the warmth of her mothers belly and set foot into the wild. Silently they fly towards their new home and lodge themselves into the ground and bringing some motherfu**in freedom to anyone in need. The B-52 is now ready to mate again and soon another batch of little bomblings will spawn from its womb to continue the never ending cycle of freedom and democracy."

That is odd. I just saw an interview of her with the widow of an attack in Iraq and for a moment I thought it was Hala! The report ended with something that I have never seen any reporter do: she hugged the interviewee. That was pretty moving.

Does anyone know more about her? I don't think I've ever seen a report by her before.

EDIT: ok, nevermind. I found her Wikipedia-article. It seems that CNNI has a high concentration of blondes with (partial) Syrian roots. :)

Arwa's report on that small child who had his face set on fire by masked monsters was outstanding and I think will probably mean he get some special treatment outside of Iraq. Excellent work from Arwa. :D

I can see at least one award for Arwa Damon after that report, and this will be well deserved. It really impacted me and, as Jim Walton pointed out "this has become CNN.com's most-visited non-breaking news story in history". Hats off, Arwa!!! :D

It has been interesting to see Arwa reporting out of the daily war streets of Iraq.
It gives her opportunity to show her other side. I Love how she interacts with Youssif's family; there is an authenticity, and tenderness in Arwa that the war reports don't generally aloud us to see it.

CNN's Arwa Damon and Dr. Sanjay Gupta tell the story of a young Iraqi boy's journey to recovery from a horrific attack in a story only made possible by the compassion of CNN viewers.

Five year-old Youssif was doused in gasoline by masked assailants and set on fire, resulting in terrible burns to his face and hands. Baghdad-based correspondent Arwa Damon met Youssif's father and heard Youssif's story, which she reported for CNN, CNN International and CNN.com. Youssif's story drew the biggest response to a non-breaking news story in the history of CNN.com. Through CNN's online Impact Your World initiative, viewers from around the world made contributions to the Children's Burn Foundation, allowing Youssif and his family to fly to the United States for treatment.

Plastic surgeon Peter Grossman offered to donate his services for the half dozen or more surgeries Youssif will need. Dr. Gupta and Damon are there in Southern California to monitor Youssif's medical progress at the Grossman Burn Center and watch the family as it experiences a series of "firsts" during their new life in America: from learning how to use a toaster to seeing the ocean for the first time.
