I was one of the most ardent detractors of Spitzer when he landed at CNN. I did warm to his on screen presence though, and I wonder if HLN are missing out by not stepping in and offering him some sort of the role with the network. Clearly, HLN set its course long ago and knows what direction it wants to head in. I hate suggesting HLN add another hour of opinion, but I feel that Spitzer at least has the smarts to debate fairly and present an intelligent argument most of the time.

It's a bit of a strange feeling to think that Spitzer would probably bring a little bit of class back to HLN's prime time viewing. Interesting idea, though.

Here's my take:

6am-10am MORNING EXPRESS
Robin Meade with Bob Van Dillen, Jennifer Westhoven & Carlos Diaz

10am-12pm CHRISTI & COMPANY
Christi Paul is a nice late morning news and talk alternative. It's only 7am out west

12-4pm HLN NEWS NOW
Mike Galanos has been handling all 4 hours and I don't plan on changing it

4-5pm NOW IN AMERICA
Ryan Smith is less boring than Vinnie Politan

5-8pm EVENING EXPRESS
Natasha Curry & Carlos Diaz along with "Elle Duncan" from one of the Atlanta stations were tested out for "Evening Express 2.0" another Zucker decision.

8-9pm AMERICA TONIGHT
Kyra Phillips is good for this now that I've ousted her stupid "Raising America"

9-10pm VARIOUS
What Would You Do, Clark Howard, Specials, Etc.

10-11pm HLN AFTER DARK
I don't want HLN to be CourtTV. But I do like After Dark as a wrap up show

I have purposely made all of these shows very uncompetitive because CNN is actually losing to HLN sometimes and I'm not having that. Lol

I always thought raising america was a special not the name of a regular show.

I like the schedule. It's simple enough, but where is your Nancy Grace and Jane Velez-Mitchell. The shouty women.

For a News Station, I'm not sure about "various" midweek, unless you are trying to drive people to CNN that hour

CNN_Maryland, I'd love to play along and comment on the HLN schedule but honestly, I've watched more Fox News than I have HLN and I watch very little Fox News.

Just a follow-up, if you make HLN too "newsy", you're competiting too much with CNN. With the "court tv", we all know that when court TV became truTV, if I have my facts straight, then we know how poor it became "Not reality, actuality". That's really holding up now, isn't it.. I like how HLN are the court specialists, compared to other networks. It's their thing. Although they are Headline News. Hmmm...

I really do like this schedule. Putting Kyra in prime time is an EXCELLENT idea and she definitely deserves it. They could just rotate Grace (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and Velez-Mitchel (Tuesday and Thursday) at 10pm. Whether we like it or not, Nancy grace has become the flagship program of HLN so we can't take her presence out completely. Then at 11pm, rotate Dr. Drew with Showbiz Tonight with the same arrangement. I'd give Galanos a co-anchor though for old time's sake. Susan Hendricks.

BERMAN: Their shopping needs, I'm talking about. We'll break it down next.
PEREIRA: (gasps) What is wrong with you?!
BERMAN: I don't know!

Jeff Zucker & the new HLN Executives are really messing up HLN (and CNN for that matter). So, I thought that HLN shouldn't try to compete with CNN,MSNBC,Fox or any other news station, they should have a mix of hard and soft news. So, here's what I thought of:

HLN TV Weekday Programming/Schedule

Morning Block

6:00-Morning Express w/ Robin Meade

9:00-Clark Howard

10:00- News Now (Lynn Berry)

Afternoon Block

12:00-News Now (Mike Galanos)

2:00- Upwave Block

4:00- News Now (Christi Paul)

Evening Block

6:00- Prime News (Kyra Phillips & ?)

7:00- What Would You Do?

8:00- Nancy Grace

9:00-Dr.Drew

10:00-HLN After Dark

HLN TV Saturday Programming/Schedule

Morning Block

6:00-Weekend Express

Afternoon Block

12:00-News Now (?)

2:00-News Now (?)

3:00-Clark Howard

4:00-News Now (?)

Evening Block

6:00- Upwave Block

8:00- HLN Mysteries

HLN TV Sunday Programming/Schedule

Morning Block

6:00-Weekend Express

Afternoon Block

12:00-News Now (?)

2:00-American Journey

3:00-Clark Howard

4:00-News Now (?)

Evening Block

6:00- Upwave Block

8:00- HLN Mysteries

HLN has been doing a segment called "Why the Health Not?" so why not turn it into a show? On my mock schedule above I'm gonna cut Weekend Express an hour short and plug in "Why the Health Not?" at 11:00 am on Saturday & Sunday

I read this article on Capital New York and was inspired to make a mock schedule that would still comply with the rebranded HLN and still be considered a news network. They'd have to work hard to get some personalities though...

All times Eastern

6AM Morning Express with Robin Meade

She's a keeper for sure!

12PM Showbiz Today or Spotlight with Nischelle Turner

I know there are reports that she's leaving the CNN family, but she has not mentioned anything about it at all on Twitter, and continues to promote her CNN appearances.

12:30PM Your Health with Robin Meade & Dr. Sanjay Gupta

This is already a syndicated show for doctors' offices around the country, so it shouldn't add any cost putting it on HLN.

1PM HLN Live (haven't decided on who would host)

A lively, fast-paced general news show with multiple anchors and a bunch of different segments.

5PM Dr. Drew On Call

6PM Nancy Grace

It's a mystery why she's still the number 1 host on HLN. Until that changes, I think she should be kept on, just not in primetime.

7PM The News Crew with Bill Weir, Brianna Keilar, and Jennifer Gray

Largely unscripted news presentation. (I'm just assuming these people would have good chemistry.)

The next 2 may be fake news shows, but they are news sources for many young people across the nation. (I'm not one of them, but it would definitely provide a boost to HLN.)

8PM Today Tonight with John Oliver

9PM The Daily Show with John Stewart

I realize he probably can't bring the show name over due to legal reasons.

10PM Various CNNI-produced short documentaries

i.e. CNN Freedom Project, African Voices, etc.

I put this here because IMO, millenials like a mix of edgy and serious. Since edgy precedes this slot, I thought this would be a good fit.

10:30PM ICYMI with Susan Hendricks

She has confirmed she's leaving, actually, in a tweet. She quoted the Wrap's tweet and said thanks when they wished her well.

CNN should use HLN to air CNN original series when CNN goes into Breaking News Mode. Put it in the ticker "PROGRAMMING NOTE: Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown: Vienna will air on HLN"
