His piece finally made it to BackStory today after being floated a couple of times in the past few editions of the show.

LCV is moving to CNN International to host WBT. He will provide a Latin American perspective.

(Via his Twitter account)

He'll start next week.

This change is a little odd since he was supposed to debut his own investigative program on CNÑ alongside Fernando del Rincón in the following months. But it's good news: he won't have to work for the tabloidy station CNÑ has become since the revamp. Kudos to him!

"This new management is not one that tolerates any questions. The changes are alienating the public who has been loyal to the network for so many years. They're looking for a new audience. But if you read the comments on the social network sites, the viewers are not pleased with what they see on the air."

I liked Luis during his few appearances on CNNI so far and CNNI could use a new face for a change. So, this is good news.

But I wonder if he'll be a fulltime host or just a regular contributor/reporter and does this mean he's replacing someone (Colleen, Felicia :-? )?

I really hope not, Collen & Felicia are a great team. :surprised:

I agree Wilma. I'm looking forward to seeing the new anchor team. Don't get me wrong, I love Felicia, but I'm sure we'll still see her regularly throughout the day. CNNI needs more male anchors and I'm so glad to see someone promoted from CNN en Espanol. Good get 'em Luis Carlos Velez. I'll be watching. And that picture, oh la la!

Is LCV moved from CNÑ to CNNI, or is he just taking up extra work (as in Isha-style)?

He is moving to CNNI. Yesterday, he said goodbye to CNÑ viewers in its flagship newscast, Panorama Mundial.

It is a big promotion for him. Being a producer, he didn't have a regular spot on the air. He did have his own monthly show (the Spanish version of Business Traveller) and for about a year (2008-2009) he was also the third co-anchor of Al Cierre. But mostly, we would watch him subbing in almost every program of the old CNN en Español. Because of this, the now defunct Claudia Palacios fan blog called him "Duracell Bunny".

Sorry for those who like him and with all due respect: the little I watched I thought he's rather annoying.

Yes, good luck Luis Carlos. I'm sure he will be great and it will be fantastic to see a Hispanic anchoring on CNN International. It shows how diverse the channel is.

Very happy to finally see him on WBT. He seems so knowledgeable for someone so young. He definitely knows his business news inside out after I saw him explain so of the Latin American monetary situations.
