Thought I would start this thread, for any updates with the World Weather Team, Also I have noticed lately a number of the weather anchors seem to be touching the weather wall during their presenting - has anyone else noticed this? Is it a new thing??

I've noticed some new weather graphics, they are shaped like new boxes and it has CNN WEATHER CENTER written in it.

Thanks Morpium. So you're capping again, eh? That looks like Domestic, but not quite. I'm just glad that they've kept the cloud time lapses - those are gorgeous.

^^ I'm using VLC player at the moment, but it's not very good with fast movement, so only a few caps here and there.

On the weather front, I wonder if the addition of the new tabs is an indication of revamped weather maps soon? To me, the maps look fine as they are. They are probably the best CNNI has ever had.

The tabs almost remind me of the "connect line" from CT'W. That's probably more just because of the red and white. I think they look better than the previous tabs.

EDIT - Yes, it would take a very brave person to kill off the cloud loop, Charles. They look fab!

Why did they add that white bar "CNN Weather Center" at the top of the screen during weather reports?

I've just seen it for the first time. Doesn't look bad - but sort of unnecessary :|

We've already been talking about it in the graphics thread. That new weather strap looks a lot like Domestic's.

I do hope Lola returns someday. Hope you get a reply, garh.

Looks very much like domestic's weather center, but I think domestic stays truer to the current theme. Everything they have is rounded, opposed to only the title and the straps. The city/temperature straps are still very 2006.

I got the idea from that to move all those posts in here. Hopefully people find it in the weather thread here. If not, I'll change it back.

After they read the forum, I was told by someone (who would know) that as far as they know, Lola is just taking a break and will be back. This was a couple of days before G-man made any mention of her, so a return could be sooner, rather than later. Fingers crossed, anyway.

That's good to hear. I don't think we've seen her since March, have we?

The graphics do seem to have improved. Of course, it looks a lot better with the streams moving.

Im still a wee bit undecided if I like the new graphics!! I see though Jenny must be tall or taller than the likes of Jen and Mari as Jenny's head covers some of the new graphics sometimes. I didn't get a reply the G Man re Lola, I see though he must be away on Vacation as Jenny is doing Quest and 2nd Edition International Desk. Just a question does the G man only do those 2 shows or does he sometimes start his weather hit on Finns WN??

I do not see the point of that 'CNN Weather Center' thing all the time during weather segments.

The font is slightly different from the domestic networks. Also, what I would like to see is for the weather to be done via a video wall for it to be easier for the weather presenters to present the weather.

^^ I'd like that as part of an actual weather center. But as a whole, I think CNNI does weather better than most.

There's no comparison between CNN and rest of the news channels, BBC has these pathetic 30 second updates with boring presenters who have no contact to news anchors. Sky has that gigantic newswall which makes the maps look wide and strange, they don't really do world weather anyway.
I haven't seen Al Jazeera in a long time, when they started they had ex Sky woman Steff all the time.

^^^

Al Jazeera's are better than BBC World's, but still not as good as CNNI's. AJE does two weather updates per hour lasting about three minutes. Sometimes, they have real weather people doing it (either Steff Gaulter or Everton Fox), or they'll just do automated weather like France 24. Steff and Everton seem to do their updates on a script like BBC's, but at least they don't talk like robots and they are slightly more captivating.

I'm putting up a clip of domestic's weather report for those who might not have seen it for comparison.
I don't like the way they spend half the time looking at the wall and talking to it. Much prefer CNNI's contact with the viewer instead of the wall.
