Since he's back on a freelance basis, that's closer to coming back fulltime than what he was a few weeks ago. I would love to see Martin back behind the anchor desk, but a correspondent role would be more than acceptable as well.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. He's still working on World Focus, and when I saw him on Domestic tonight, his name came up in the non-CNNer typeface.

My only real experience with Martin is from his time covering the Iraq invasion in 2003. We saw a lot of his reports, and some anchoring, on CNNI. I was pretty much sold on Martin from that. I would love to see another ex-CNN'er back with the network, but as Charles said, it's probably not likely to happen anytime soon. Still, it is nice to know that there is a chance of seeing Martin on occassion.

I remember Martin from the 90's and early 00's. A true class anchor. I hope one day we get to see him return. It would be great to see CNN make a return to the traditional anchors who really made the network shine back in the day.

I'd love to see him back. And Stephen Fraizer.

Well, tonight, his name showed up in the CNNer typeface. (CNNers' names show up in slightly smaller boxes usually.)

I agree with Houston-- let's see some more real journalists on Domestic, please.

Well, tonight, his name showed up in the CNNer typeface. (CNNers' names show up in slightly smaller boxes usually.)

They use that format for almost every journalist that appears on CNN that doesn't have any additional information, so there isn't any special font for CNN employees. I've seen them use it a bunch of time with local affiliate reporters, especially when the said affiliate isn't mentioned in the straps.

There's four possible combination for the lower straps.

Large font with one line of text (used for headlines) -

EXAMPLE HEADLINE

Smaller font with one line of text (used to originally identify people) -

Posted Image

Smaller font with one line of text, with an extended area for a description (usually used for affiliates, or CNN correspondents with extended titles) -

EXAMPLE HEADLINE
Additional line for more information

Smaller font with all lowercase text (used for quotes, or for details relating to the story)

For what it's worth, I saw him carrying a branded CNN microphone a few hours ago.

Poor guy. I can really sympathize for him.

It's only 72 F (22 C for our international friends) in California. Just enough for a light jacket in the mornings.

Martin has posted on his Facebook that people from Al Jazeera want him to become their North America correspondent. He says they are nice folks and that the talks continue. In the meantime, we should see him today (Saturday) back on CNN, reporting on tornadoes in Arkansas

Martin was introduced as "CNN's Martin Savidge" when reporting from Baghdad today. According to his Facebook, he will be there until the end of the month. It still sounds like he's a freelancer, though. Perhaps Guy could confirm that for us?

I'd really love to see Martin back on CNN fulltime. How cool would it be to have someone as experienced as him. He could even anchor on CNNI... They need more male anchors.

Great to see him today. As Riceo said a while back, it would be nice to see him back as an anchor.

I don't know if Martin would be up for it, but now there are two positions vacant: 1 in Beirut and 1 in Afghanistan, perhaps we can see him get a permanent gig.

I like that idea Lazlo. It'd be great to have a familiar face back reporting again. I'm sure he would be keen to as well.
