I wonder if she is just freelancing and filling in while Nkepile is out on maternity leave, or is she a new fulltime correspondent?

Someone introduced her as "CNN's Nima Elbagir" the other day.

Yes, I've seen her reporting a few times on CNN now. I hope she has joined CNN fulltime. I found this Wikipedia article on her: http://en.wikipedia....ki/Nima_Elbagir

I caught her reporting for Back Story last night. It looks like she will be doing some of the Hajj coverage for CNN this year.

Yes I saw her reporting live from Mecca last night. I wonder what her regular beat will be.

I've been enjoying her reports from Hajj. As a practicing Muslim, Nima is also performing the Hajj this year.

On the 2010 end of year special, Nima was captioned as "CNN journalist". Hopefully this means she has joined fulltime.

^^ I saw that caption as well, but CNN International's press office told me that she is still only a freelancer.

Congratulations to her

While London 'is back up to strength' though (Dan Rivers and Nima replace Paula Newton and Sasha Herriman) there are still huge holes in CNN's correspondent coverage, most notably South East Asia

Yay! Nima on CNN full time is good news!

In addition to the South East Asia hole, there's basically no one reporting full time from Latin America (with exception of Havana).

The press release says Nima has been freelancing for 12 months. I thought she had been freelancing for a little longer than that. Anyway, good to see she has now been hired fulltime.

One has to wonder what took CNN so long in putting Nima on the books, but she is a good hire in my opinion. I saw a report from her in London on World Report with Anjali this morning, and I also saw her doing a live hit in the London newsroom on News Stream last night.

At one point, watching CNNI, I mistook this new reporter for Nkepile. Don't make me confused ladies!
